There are plenty of trips to take along the coast of Calabria. Among these, not to be missed is the visit along the “Costa Viola”, so called because of the almost purple color that the sea waters take on at particular times of the day. Here it is possible to admire: Scilla with the Ruffo Castle and the seaside village of Chianalea; the terraces of heroic vines, splendid beaches, caves and breathtaking panoramas; Bagnara Calabra which, on the other hand, represents an ideal destination for tasting confectionery products including the exclusive “Torrone di Bagnara IGP”.

In the extreme north of the Costa Viola is Palmi and its Ethnographic Museum. This place contains rich collections of traditional and common objects, typical costumes and handicrafts. Important for the number and variety of exhibits. From Palmi it is possible to walk along a stretch of the Tracciolino hiking trail and also to reach the clear blue sea in the nearby hamlets of the Tonnara di Palmi, Pietre Nere and Scinà. Not far from the beach it is possible to visit the hamlet of Taureana with the archaeological park of the Taureani and the church of S. Fantino, with a visit to the crypt.

The sea is clear and blue, in this stretch of coast between natural inlets, dark and granite rocks, there are golden and fine sandy beaches with the mythical places of Scilla and Cariddi on the horizon.
